Shaler Area S.D. neighbors North Hills S.D. to the west, Hampton Township S.D. to the north, Fox Chapel Area S.D. to the east, and the Pittsburgh S.D. to the south.
The current superintendent of Shaler Area School District is Dr. Shipley. The High School's Principal is Mr. Timothy Royall, and the Assistant Principals are Mrs. JoAnne Freed and Ms. Shannon Howard. The New Mt. Royal Middle School's Acting Principal is Mrs. Eloise Groegler, and the Assistant Principal is Mrs. Lori Mish. The new Shaler Area Elementary School's Principal is Cynthia L. Shaler's teams are all nicknamed "The Titans."
Shaler athletics compete in the WPIAL/PIAA AAAA/AAA divisions depending on sport.
Shaler's biggest rival is the neighboring North Allegheny Tigers and North Hills Indians, who also compete in the same section.
Shaler's softball team took home numerous PIAA and WPIAL titles from 2000-2009.
